Whether you need a driver’s license to operate a pallet truck depends on a few factors—mostly the type of pallet truck and where you're using it.
There are two main types of pallet trucks:
Manual Pallet Truck (Hand Pallet Jack):
No driver’s license required.
These are pushed or pulled by hand and are commonly used in warehouses or stores.
Powered Pallet Truck (Electric Pallet Jack / Rider Pallet Truck):
May require special training or certification, especially in a workplace setting.
You don’t need a driver’s license like for a car, but you often do need to complete OSHA-compliant training (in the U.S.) or a similar safety training program in other countries.
Summary:
Manual pallet truck? No license or certification needed.
Electric pallet truck? No driver's license, but may require workplace certification/training.
